How to Get a Florida Mortgage Broker License
An applicant for a Florida Mortgage Broker License must:
- be at least 18 years old
- hold a high school diploma or its equivalent
NOTE: Florida residency is not required.
The steps outlined below will begin the process
to obtain a Florida Mortgage Broker License.
A Step-By-Step Guide
1. Register for Class Florida Mortgage Broker License Course - $249 tuition includes your course materials. Click below to view our upcoming course dates and times.
2. Submit Your License Application Package Online. Your License Application Package must be completed online at https://real.flofr.com (no "www" is required). Click on "Register to use online services" if this is your first time to the site and follow the directions. On the application package you will share information about yourself and pay a fee of $281.25. This fee pays for your application, fingerprint card processing and your state exam. Your License Application and your fee must be completed in order to schedule the state exam.
Last day to apply is July 8, 2010!
3. Submit Your Completed Fingerprint Card. The Florida Office of Financial Regulation will mail you a fingerprint card upon submission of your online application. Complete the fingerprint card at a local law enforcement agency as soon as possible after receiving it. Mail the completed fingerprint card to the Florida Office of Financial Regulation - 200 E. Gaines Street, Tallahassee, FL 32399.
4. Attend Class. Complete Mortgage Broker License Course prior to taking the state exam. Classroom attendance is required. Upon successful completion of the course, Larson Educational Services will submit proof of your course completion to the Office of Financial Regulation.
5. Schedule the State License Exam. Upon approval of your application the testing service - Pearson VUE - is notified by the Florida Office of Financial Regulation and they in turn notify you with instructions to schedule the license examination. You have 90 days from the date of your application to pass the exam.
