Florida Real Estate Broker Licensing Requirements
An applicant for a Florida Real Estate Broker License must:
- be at least 18 years old
- hold a high school diploma or its equivalent
- have a minimum of 24 months of experience as a Real Estate Sales Associate in the previous five years
NOTE: Florida residency is not required.
The steps outlined below will begin the process
to obtain a Florida Real Estate Broker License.
Application approval generally takes 10-30 days.
A Step-By-Step Guide
1. Register for class
Broker License Course - $399 tuition includes your course materials. Click below to register and view our course dates and times.
2. State Application
a. Submit a license application to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. On the application you will share information about yourself and include a fee of $115 payable to the DBPR. You can apply online or print a paper application.
NOTE: If you are not a Florida resident, you are required to submit a paper application that is signed by a notary public. Although the application states that it must be a Florida notary, it can actually be any licensed notary in any state or jurisdiction.
b. Register for electronic fingerprinting
Florida requires electronic fingerprints be taken in order to run a criminal background check. To make a reservation, click the button below or contact the PearsonVUE customer support center at 1.888.274.2020 (fingerprint reservations are prompt 7) to select a date and time that is convenient for you. Cost of fingerprinting is $57.25.NOTE: PearsonVUE will notify you by mail when your application has been approved (generally 10-30 days). This approval allows you to schedule the state exam - reservations can be made at PearsonVUE.com or by calling 1.888.274.2020.
3. Attend Real Estate Broker License Course
Real Estate Broker License Course is the state required 72 Hour Pre-License course. A passing score of 70% is required on the school final exam. All applicants are required to satisfactorily complete this course prior to taking the state examination. Your Course Completion Certificate is valid for two (2) years from the date of issuance. Larson Educational Services is a Florida approved Real Estate School (License #ZH1002299).
4. Pass the State License Exam

Your exam approval status is valid for two (2) years from the date received. A passing score is 75 out of 100 questions answered correctly.
Step 5: Activate the License
You must activate through a broker or owner/developer. The broker can go to www.myfloridalicense.com on the sole proprietor personal account, or the corporate account, whichever applies, OR submit the DBPR RE 10 form found below. The license will remain inactive until the broker activates the license
